Maui’s South Shore Spots. Kihei, Wailea and Makena make up some of the best beach on Maui. Long slow rolling wave break at numerous spots along the this coast.

Makena, Big Beach this beach is one of the most beautiful, scenic beaches adjacent to one another on the southern end of Maui. Mainly offering skimboarding, bodysurfing, and bodyboarding with shore pounders that can get big and strong with closeout barrels. Bigger, longer period swells will sometimes offer a surfboard option off the rocks on the sides of each cove.
Makena Beach Park
Dumps In the barren and desolate lava fields of Makena coast is Dumps. A left hander reef point break that can get really good on bigger swells. When bigger Dumps is fast and barrels through numerous section. Small days sloper and slower. Makena’s beautiful rugged and coastline. Dump’s is located in the Ahihi-Kinau Natural area reserve which keeps this break pristine.
La Perouse Bay is a very lava rocky bay at the end of Makena road. Unpaved roads so walking or 4wd. La Perouse is left that can hold waves up to triple overhead, big sections that you can carve up all the way to shore. Smaller days it gets slopey and shouldery.
